Phoenix is Happily a Mess!

10:45PM: STORMS IN ARIZONA ARE SO EXCITING!! Everyone actually gets into it which also makes it even more exciting! Tyler and I stood outside on our patio and watched the storm and it looked like as if we were at a dance with strobe lights going off every minute. We decided to go around the apartment and found a spot where we felt this amazing cool breeze (70 mph wind!) and stood there for a while absorbing the feeling since it’s been so long since we felt a cool breeze (air conditioning does not count!).

[Power went out]

10:15AM: The power went out while I was typing this. We went outside on the patio again and we could barely see anything. The visibility was 0!! It was POURING and all the lights were out. There were cars trying to leave and get in but the gates weren’t working – we were stuck in prison! It was starting to get hot in the apartment because obviously the air conditioner was not on. It was actually cooler outside because of the wind…according to the news,
“Winds in some areas were clocked at 85 mph, which is the strength of a Category 1 hurricane. A wind gust of up to 100 mph was recorded by National Weather Service radar.”
INSANE! Tyler, Blake and I decided to go outside in the rain and frolicked in the flood until a lightning hit near us and scared the crap out of us and we ran back inside. Stupid? I know but gotta live a little and have fun!! We didn’t know how to wake up in the morning because our alarm wasn’t working so we turned on ALL the lights in the apartment. Tyler and I had a hard time trying to sleep because it was so hot! Tyler had this cheap small fan that ran on batteries so we used that until the battery died. All the lights came back on at 2:30 in the morning. Blasted the AC on and went back to sleep!

Tyler had to take a detour to work this morning since the road near our apartment is closed. Phoenix is happily a mess!!! Everyone loves it and everyone is happy. What an amazing storm!

Amy’s Surprise Visit!

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

Wow, it’s been a while since I blogged. Last week Tyler and I went to a bar to meet up with Jason, Brian & Catie but as we were entering the bar I saw Jason running up to me and looked like he was up to something. As I walked in, there was Amy standing right there grinning at me! I was so surprised that I slapped her, lol (it’s our thing!). Later the boys told us that some people at the bar thought we were about to fight, haha. Amy made it seem like Austin is only 2 hours away instead of 14 hours. Earlier that day I was telling the girls (Amy, Nicole & Megan) that I missed them and too bad we couldn’t be together having lunch or something and Amy’s here!!??

Friday night we went to a bar in Tempe. I love the people in Arizona – they’re so friendly! I think we’ve convinced Amy to move here after she finishes school…but I think she should move now. :-P

Saturday night we went out to dinner and came back to our apartment to hang out & drink. Beer-cookie dough does not taste good at all. Enough said. The boys actually cooked them and ate them like pancakes with syrup. Disgusting!

This week I have been so busy with finalizing the wording/font for the invitations so I can get them printed out hopefully on Friday. This weekend Tyler and I will be baby/house/pet-sitting at my parents’ house while they go to Tucson for their anniversary. Hopefully it won’t be too boring this weekend.

Pager & the Cities

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

Where is the time going!?! The days are going by so fast!

I’m at work trying to make my lunch hour useful. I liked my old schedule better – 8 hours meaning if no lunch break I get to leave earlier. But now there always has to be someone from the marketing team here from 8AM to 5PM so because I’m new..I’m stuck with the 8-5 schedule which means I HAVE to take a hour lunch break or I’m working 9 hours and getting 1 hour with no pay. Anyways, today I’m working by myself. Kristina, who I’m assistant to, is out for the day so I’m doing all the marketing requests myself. No cranky brokers today (so far)….Kristina said usually it’s when they’re not making money off the properties they’re selling. I don’t know how people can live off comissions.

I wish my girls were here in the same city. We’re not sex & the city. Unfortunately we’re pager & the cities. I have Jason and few other friends that I could simply meet up with but also I don’t want to waste my money by eating out everyday.
