A Simple Silhouette Striped Wall
September 8th, 2009 at 3:45 pm . Posted in Home Decor .Striped wall – COMPLETED!
There is one long wall on the left side of the living room & dining room when we walk into the house. We wanted to do something with it so we decided to do stripes. I love stripes!
We made a trip down to Home Depot, and thank god we only live 4 miles away! Again, here we were trying to decide on a color together. I hated his choices and he hated mine. Finally we decided on a color. Simple Silhouette by Behr. As for the 2nd color, we asked them to adjust the color to a lighter color.

We decided on 6 stripes and measured them with our new measuring tape. We can now stop borrowing my Dad’s. To get straight lines on the wall when we applied painting tape, we used a Strait-Line Laser Level from Home Depot.
While we were painting the dark color, my parents came over and freaked out. I had to remind them who’s house it was and that it’s not finished. I teased them and told them to leave and come back tomorrow when it was finished.

And at finally 3AM on Sunday we were finished!

Any ideas what we could put on the wall now?
Our dining room and living room is empty for now until we buy furniture. Tyler and I are looking into making our own dining table – nothing’s set in stone yet as we have other projects we want to focus on first.
I have this love and hate relationship with painting especially when the walls here in Arizona are textured. This week and weekend’s project is to paint our bedroom… hint: light blue/green.

Oh I LOVE to paint. It’s funny because when I have painting needing to be done I continuously put it off. Then once I start painting I remember how much I love it and of course, when I see the finished product it’s just love at first sight….or action.
The room looks great! I really love the idea of making your own table too.

so very awesome, i hope sean and i can make gutsy moves like yall have and get amazing results when we get a place of our own someday!
first thing that come to mind is a large black frame, plenty of white space and some black design on it. opposite idea is something completely colorful but i dont know what.
other idea is modern shelves (maybe square/rect shaped) with little things on them

first thing i think of is a big framed art piece on the next white wall shown in the picture.
or on the striped wall, perhaps silhouettes? if that wouldn’t be too far out.
would it be risky to hang something on the striped wall and have to rearrange later and cover the nail holes? if not, i agree with sara’s idea first & opposite.

Wow, AWESOMEE..!!! I love it! :D
Have a nice day.

Wow, great painting job!!! I would also go with something white on the wall. Maybe some white shelving, that divides the two different stripes, with white/gray/black picture on them.

Steph, this looks FANTASTIC! I’ve always seen stripes done on other people’s walls — like on home makeover shows — & I love the idea!

i love ittttt!
i’m imagining a lot of mirrors with colorful frames.. all sizes and shapes with picture frames in between… but the stripes are already a statement on its own so.. that might be too much

Wow, that wall looks amazing! I absolutely love stripes! I know what you mean about the textured walls being hard to customize but seriously, the stripes are awesome :)
September 13th, 2009 at 11:32 pm
Just got done painting for 8 hours – no stripes but a lot of cutting in and trimming. Ugh! Your stripes look spectacular and have inspired me to do something similar whenever the husband and I get a house.

This looks great! I imagine that stripes are tough!
September 14th, 2009 at 1:46 pm
I would paint the electrical outlet covers the same color as the wall so it blends in better. Looks awesome too!
