A Simple Silhouette Striped Wall

Striped wall – COMPLETED!

There is one long wall on the left side of the living room & dining room when we walk into the house. We wanted to do something with it so we decided to do stripes. I love stripes!

We made a trip down to Home Depot, and thank god we only live 4 miles away! Again, here we were trying to decide on a color together. I hated his choices and he hated mine. Finally we decided on a color. Simple Silhouette by Behr. As for the 2nd color, we asked them to adjust the color to a lighter color.

We decided on 6 stripes and measured them with our new measuring tape. We can now stop borrowing my Dad’s.  To get straight lines on the wall when we applied painting tape, we used a Strait-Line Laser Level from Home Depot.

While we were painting the dark color, my parents came over and freaked out. I had to remind them who’s house it was and that it’s not finished. I teased them and told them to leave and come back tomorrow when it was finished.

And at finally 3AM on Sunday we were finished!

Any ideas what we could put on the wall now?

Our dining room and living room is empty for now until we buy furniture. Tyler and I are looking into making our own dining table – nothing’s set in stone yet as we have other projects we want to focus on first.

I have this love and hate relationship with painting especially when the walls here in Arizona are textured.  This week and weekend’s project is to paint our bedroom… hint: light blue/green.

Definitely Not a Nurse

Tyler wanted hamburgers on Friday night and put the meat in the microwave to defrost. He held the meat as he tried to slice it in half and you can guess what happened….

The knife went through and cut himself in between his fingers.

Unsure of what to do… we got in the car and immediately started driving to my parents’ house. We had to stop at the gate to be able to enter the country club and I saw this same lady who always like to start up a conversation with me instead of just asking me who I am coming to see and making sure I am on the list and open the gate for me to go through.

I was thinking to myself… should I just show her Tyler’s bloody hand and say, “This is why I do not have time to answer your questions or talk with you. Let us go through NOW.”

But I didn’t. I just nodded as she talked while she was putting my name in.

Dad was home and came to our rescue. After debating if we should go to the hospital or not.. they did not think it was necessary and wrapped up his fingers together.

The next day, his cut actually looked deeper and worse. Tyler assured me he was fine and has been replacing the bandages throughout the day. It’ll probably take a month before it fully heals. I apologized for not being the wife that can heal an injury without being grossed out.

My parents are now prepared that I’ll be bringing our children over for all of their injuries if Tyler’s not home.
