The Old Days of My Pagers

I can’t believe I saved all of my old pagers. I wonder what my children will be saying about these pagers/phones we used to have. OMG, EW! That is probably going to be their reaction.

I remember getting my first pager, Motorola, in 2000. My parents wanted to keep in touch with me while I was away at the deaf school. Soon enough my friends had one and it became more fun to use. Although it wasn’t fun getting in trouble when the phone bill arrived. Too bad we didn’t have unlimited texting plans back then!

Wyndtell was probably one of the best & fun pager I had. Almost everyone I knew had Wyndtell or AOL pager. I loved the feature where I could see if the person read my message or not. It was cool at the time to clip it to our jeans and paint the cover with nail polish.

When Sidekick first came out I HAD, WANTED, NEEDED to get one in my hands! So my parents bought a Sidekick for my Birthday and I remember bringing it home and being shocked how I could be on the Internet while sitting on the couch, walking outside, riding in the car… my life was complete! I immediately set up another AIM screenname for Sidekick only. That is a story for another time… I was addicted to changing my screennames all the time!

I absolutely love my iPhone now and cannot live without it! Now I wonder what I’ll be saying about the iPhone in 3 years?!

OMG! I remember when all the celebs had the Motorola one. I never had a pager. I didn’t even get a cell phone until 2005. Do love my iPhone now, though.

My first pager was this one: http://cache.gizmodo.com/gadgets/images/MotorolaPager.jpg

Haha! After that, I didn’t even get a cell phone until I was a freshman in high school, and that was a Nextel phone. Then I went to a Virgin mobile flip phone, and back to my Nextel phone, before going to Verizon (where I had the Chocolate, EnV2, and now the EnV touch).

Haha. I’m amazed you kept all of your pagers! I started out with a one-way pager in 1998 (loved it because I was always changing the cover– black, red, clear, glittery), then a cell phone, then a red Motorola for a long time, then Wyndtell pager (loved the chats between Wyndtell pagers!), then, AOL pager (loved it, but preferred Wyndtell better but they were taking forever with a replacement), then cell phone again, then Sidekick 1 temporarily until Sidekick 2 came out my freshman year of college, then Sidekick 3, and now BlackBerry!!!

I am thinking of getting an iPhone when my BB contract ends.. Depends where I move to next year… :)

I always wanted a sidekick!! They’re still not in Canada, and I’m still not okay with it! lol Although I do love, adore, and cherish my little iphone.

Ha ha ha! That is so funny you kept them all. Kind of cool to look back and see how technology has changed too! I love the polka dots on your 3rd sidekick! You like your iPhone? I don’t know if I would get one..I’ve heard they are not hearing aid compatible. Then I would also have to switch carriers. I can only imagine what the phones will look like in 5 years, heck just a year from now!

I’ve had so many phones over the years. Never a sidekick but the silver razor, then the pink razor, and several really “cool” nokia phones. Before my cherished iPhone, I had the Motorola Q. Not terrible but the iPhoen is one amazing piece of equipment.

hahaha, i still have my wyndtell with “Hal” nailpolished on the back…

funny blurp, went back to washingon for break. i was cooking breakfast and when opening the lower pan drawer on the stove, it fell out and my dad had to fix it… he found the wyndtell pager under there.. i have no idea why or how but i have it back. haha.

@Rachie – Haha, yeah they are phones but I’m used to saying pager because I don’t use the phone.

Hahah!! Oh i love this post, I can’t believe you still have them all! I WISH I had mine! I’ve had a cell phone for 10yrs now, it would be hilarious to see them all line up.
I am SO jealous of your sidekicks!!! I’ve always been with AT&T so I never got to have one but up until getting my iPhone in July I still wanted one lol!

I would have killed for a Sidekick! My parents said hell no.

But my iPhone is A-MAZING. I’m not really sure how phones can get any cooler than the iPhone.
