I came home on Friday to find a package sitting by the front door. I knew it was this lovely personalized sign that I ordered from Sweet Savannah! The bottom says, “Est 2008″ since that’s the year we got married. I immediately put Tyler to work and had him hang it up in our kitchen. Of course he’d do anything for his last name!

We’re still not sure what we want to put on top of our cabinets yet. It won’t be chicken, roosters, & wine racks like I notice that a lot of the homeowners here do with their kitchen (Mom, your kitchen’s an exception!). We also need new high stools for the island since the ones we currently have are wobbly and from IKEA.

I love our new table we purchased from Fry’s about a month ago. I thought this would actually make us want to eat dinner together instead of using the coffee table and watching TV at the same time. We’re still working on breaking the habit. We bought our sectional couch from Macy’s on Labor Day weekend but didn’t get it until 4 weeks later. It’s microfiber and the only thing I hate about it is getting shocked when Tyler would lean in for a kiss or hug after getting up from the couch.

We’re taking a break with our house projects until after the Holidays. At the end of this month we have our anniversary and both of my parents’ Birthday AND Thanksgiving too.

I love your house and I love all the colors. This is exactly our style as well. We love anything neutral. :)

that’s adorable :) Right now on top of my cabinets in my apartment are wine glasses. I have 4 large colorful ones and 6 little modern ones with black stems. I can always send you a picture for a better idea.

I think something black and modern on y’alls cabinet would probably look good, since the personalized sign is black, and other things too. It wouldnt be too much either depending on what goes up there. :) Keep up the great work!

Your kitchen looks amazing! My mom never did the roosters on top of the cabinet thing, either. At one point I think we had some fake ivy stuff which was a nice green touch against the dark wood cabinets… Who knows. I didn’t realize all of the details that go into decorating!

Your home looks great! About the stools- you can get nice ones from Bed, Bath, and Beyond. We got our oak ones and they were comfortable. If none of the stools there are black- you can stain it black or something. You could use coupons to get discounts too. :-)

What was the name of the couch you got at Macy’s? I’m looking for a couch to replace the futon in my apartment. I haven’t decided when to purchase one yet. It’s funny how everything has to cost money when you want to add stuff to a home or an apartment! And nobody cared about decor when we were in college…

About the dining table- I have the same one! Its color is birch though. I tend to clutter the table with mail, cards, and paper… I have to stop doing that.

How do you feel about decal? The stuff one can put on wall without making holes? I’ve heard about it from one of TLC’s shows, but I’m not convinced yet. I’m just not sure if it’s not going to peel off any paint in the apartment… Any comment on decals? (Maybe you can blog about it.)
