Canvas: Modern to Beach Theme

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

I had an old canvas that I painted a few years ago when we lived in an apartment in college. This was the time when I was in love with everything that was red and black. I’m glad we didn’t throw it away and brought it back to Arizona with us after graduation. It is easy to just paint over it… even if it is for the 50th time!

Anyways, I wanted to repaint it since I’m not into red and black anymore. Luckily for us we had a lot of paint left from painting the house.

So we went from modern…

to simple & feeling right at the beach!

I’m no Da Vinci when it comes to painting. I painted it an off-white color then used the same color we have for the office which is kind of a yellow-ish color. After that.. I have to admit the canvas sat on the floor against the wall for about a month or so. I was waiting for inspiration or the urge to put it up.

One day while cleaning I realized I had some beach decor so why not use them! I got my hot glue gun out and glued the starfish on the canvas. Finally the canvas went up on the wall in our office. If you webcam with me you’ll see this pretty canvas that will make me look like I’m at the beach!

God Created the Grand Canyon, But He Lives in Sedona

Monday, April 26th, 2010

Sedona was beautiful like always!  As somebody once said, ”God created the Grand Canyon, but He lives in Sedona”.  In the morning before we left, I checked to see what the weather was like in Sedona on my iPhone and it read 43 degrees!  Insane… but that didn’t stop me from leaving the house with flip-flops on.  Stupid decision I made since I was already cold the minute we arrived.

We managed to stay warm by going in and out of the cute little shops.  I’m impressed with how Sedona is very eco-friendly and green!  They even had recycling machines next to trash cans around town.

We had a lot of fun with the in-laws…which included a celebration for the guys getting new wedding (temporary) rings.  I guess it runs in the family that they lose their rings!  Now the ladies can stop eyeballing them. Just kidding…kind of!

On our way home we stopped and hiked a little bit to get close to the rocks. What a beautiful view and definitely worth the hike with flip-flops on and in the rain!  Now I’m looking forward to our next mini-trip to Portland, Oregon and Seattle, Washington in June for my brother-in-law’s wedding.

Mini-Vacations But No Honeymoon Yet

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

My in-laws are in town! This probably explains the lack of tweeting, blogging, and commenting lately. The in-laws drove here from Vancouver, Washington which is 2 hours south of Seattle. I suppose they brought the weather with them since it’s gloomy here today.

We’re going up to Sedona tomorrow. The last time I was up there was on the day of my bachelorette party where we went on the Pink Jeep Tour.  I’m looking forward to it because it has been a while since we went out of town!

Next Thursday will be 9 years since Tyler and I got together. Can you imagine out of the 9 years we have been together for, we have never actually gone on vacation by ourselves?! That has to change soon!

So lately I have been thinking about our honeymoon because Tyler and I still haven’t gone on our honeymoon YET. With a November wedding it just didn’t seem to work in our schedule to go after we got married. I’m seriously going to need to talk to Tyler and tell him I want to go at the end of this year or beginning of next year. Right now I’m dreaming about going to St. Lucia’s…. if money wasn’t an issue, I’d definitely go to Bora Bora!

Any other warm/tropical places I should consider? I’m definitely looking into Sandals for St. Lucia’s.

Okay, time to stop drooling over the pictures and get back to reality!
