Mini-Vacations But No Honeymoon Yet

April 21st, 2010. Posted in My Life.

My in-laws are in town! This probably explains the lack of tweeting, blogging, and commenting lately. The in-laws drove here from Vancouver, Washington which is 2 hours south of Seattle. I suppose they brought the weather with them since it’s gloomy here today.

We’re going up to Sedona tomorrow. The last time I was up there was on the day of my bachelorette party where we went on the Pink Jeep Tour.  I’m looking forward to it because it has been a while since we went out of town!

Next Thursday will be 9 years since Tyler and I got together. Can you imagine out of the 9 years we have been together for, we have never actually gone on vacation by ourselves?! That has to change soon!

So lately I have been thinking about our honeymoon because Tyler and I still haven’t gone on our honeymoon YET. With a November wedding it just didn’t seem to work in our schedule to go after we got married. I’m seriously going to need to talk to Tyler and tell him I want to go at the end of this year or beginning of next year. Right now I’m dreaming about going to St. Lucia’s…. if money wasn’t an issue, I’d definitely go to Bora Bora!

Any other warm/tropical places I should consider? I’m definitely looking into Sandals for St. Lucia’s.

Okay, time to stop drooling over the pictures and get back to reality!

9 years!! That’s amazing. And more so to be vacation free!! With our wedding in December we’re not going away right away either – plus the trip to England this summer will serve as kind of a pre-honeymoon at least for another year! Mexico is apparently very cheap and really nice, too, if you find the right places :)

wow i can’t believe you’ve never been on a vacation as a couple…except i can because in 7 years my fiance and i haven’t either!! gaaaaa always other stuff going on…
i’ve heard (researched a bit too) that the sandals in Antigua is supposed to be THE most romantic Sandals resort there is. and it’s less expensive cuz there’s not as much hype and popularity as St. Lucia. you should check it out. :)
    have a great vacation!

I had no idea you & Tyler were married in November! For some reason, when I began reading your blog, I thought you’d been married much, much longer. But nine years is a darn long time. :)

DEFINITELY get yourselves on vacation together! You deserve it. <3

Oh, Vancouver, WA! My home state. Though, I must confess that whenever I’m in that area, I usually cross over to Portland. I hope you get something worked out soon for your honeymoon. That’s a definite must.

I am not one for hot weather places, so my suggestion would be an Alaskan Cruise!

I’ve heard that the Dominican is absolutely amazing- but I’ve been to St. Lucia too (when I was a lot younger) and it was amazing. I’m sure you’ll love it if you decide to go!

Aw you should try and have a small weekend get-away together :) When Ray and I got married we booked a cottage for the weekend and had three days of marital bliss. It was our first proper holiday away together actually :)

We went to Sandals at St. Lucia for our honeymoon and it was perfect. It was right after our wedding, so we ate, drank, rested, and rested and rested. The food was so good. We will go back to Sandals again. Do go there!

WOW! It’s amazing that y’all have been together for such a long time and never have gone on a vacation alone. You need to remedy that ASAP! And I hope y’all have a wonderful time in Sedona!

We’ve been looking into honeymoon stuff, too, and right now, we’re really drawn to South America. Anywhere down there. It could be fun!

Wow, nine years is amazing! Hope you’re having a good time with your in-laws, and enjoy the honeymoon planning. I have unfortunately never been on a tropical vacation so I don’t have any advice for you.

See the thing is, newlyweds can’t properly appreciate a honeymoon. After you’ve been married ten years and have a couple kids, that’s the time you need to take a trip. You’ll really appreciate it then. Kind of funny that you live in Arizona and are asking for suggestions for a warm place to visit. Arizona would probably be downright balmy compared to Northern Wisconsin.
