My Doll

July 11th, 2010. Posted in My Life.

My sister texted me the other day asking to hang out. I thought this day would never come because apparently she told me before I was too old to hang out with. I have not been feeling great lately the past few days but I didn’t want to give up this opportunity to hang out with her. We made plans and dad dropped her off at my house on Saturday afternoon. Tyler was at work so it was perfect timing to have some girl time together.

We went & had lunch then came back to the house. We ended up doing her hair & make up. This was not something I did often when she was a little girl. She hated people brushing her hair so it was impossible to play with her hair and have her be my doll… and now I had a chance to do this!

Shampooed her hair in the kitchen sink….and I don’t think I’ve ever seen her allow a picture be taken when she does not have make up on!

Blow-dried her hair then teased her hair on top.

Then it was time to give her the beach curly look that she wanted.  We had a few close calls with burning each other!

Ta-da!!

I helped her do her make up then we also did our nails and I swear I only had 1 Diet Pepsi that day.
Got to love $2 nail polish from ULTA!

As soon as Tyler and I dropped her off at home… it was time to go back being 25 years old.
Not sure if I know how 25 year olds are supposed to act anyways.

The rest of the weekend was spent sleeping, coughing,
being nursed by my darling husband, doing laundry & watching movies.

I hope you all had a lovely weekend.

Just stumbled across your site, and must say I love it – the template is adorable!

Love this post as well, it’s always good to let your hair down and let all responsibilities out the window. You’re very lucky to have such a beautiful sister as well, who you can do all the girlie things with!

Love it! My daughter is 12 and has never let me play with her hair. Maybe some day . . .

I’ve been lurking on your blog and thought I’d introduce myself – we’re “kinda?” related. My husband, Tyler (yes, really), is cousins with Matt T. – ya know, the one married to Dana. Who I think is your cousin? I saw the post about visiting them and your aunt and uncle. I met the aunt and uncle at Matt & Dana’s wedding.

Anyhoo, I’m Cheri and it’s nice to meet you :-) Love your blog!

I really wish my little sister would or could appreciate me, but alas, she has entered the horrible teenage years and is just about to get her license, so I’m sure I’ll be waiting for another 5 years before I get a second glance from her.

Also, living 2,000+ miles away doesn’t help either.

    A) Hope you’re feeling better!!
    B) Love your green nail polish :) I’ve got some named “Camouflage” & I’m addicted to it.
    C) I have a 21 year old sister and every time we get together it seems we revert back to being teenagers. It’s just FUN to do that sometimes!

HOw fun! I am loving the look!!

Awesome that you two had a fun time together. Lauren looks so much like your mom!! I love the hairstyle on her; you did a great job :)

Sorry to hear that you’ve been feeling yucky in the last few days–hope you feel better soon!

I don’t know how to act like a 25 year old too (will be 25 soon in a few days). I usually act too old for my age or too young…never can figure it out, haha.

You’re both so adorable! I don’t think my sister would let me come near her with any hair products or my camera, which is sad because she’s gorgeous!

Holy cow, you girls are way too good at doing hair! I envy. Especially because it’s always been the one thing I’m terrible at. I do make up well, I can dress well. Hair? It’s the same every day for me. :)
