The Decorating Phases

I miss shopping for school especially dorm furniture. That doesn’t stop me from strolling down the aisles at the store and just seeing what they have to offer this year. Sometimes I get jealous when I see something new and wish they had invented it before when I was in college!

I went through my photos and found some of the places I’ve lived in during college. I don’t have any of my 1st year since I lost all my photos when my computer went bonkers on me back then.

2nd year: In the dorms.

3rd year: On campus apartment living with 3 boys and Tyler.

3rd year: Apparently I thought it was cool having jeans up on the wall!

4th year: Off campus apartment with Tyler and another roommate. This was my crazy red obsession phase.

Married life (present): Obviously a big improvement from a dorm room to an adult room.

We’re still not done with our bedroom but this is what we have so far. I love how much natural light we have in our bedroom. I’m thinking about adding different kind of frames on the wall to the left. Our bedroom is pretty much the last thing on our minds right now anyways compared to other rooms in the house. But it has been interesting to see how colorful we have gone to white/sea blue in the past few years.

Since last week we have decided to recently let 2 friends of ours move in with us for a while so we can help them save money and they’re helping us save money so basically a win/win situation. Also because of that, we have recently been able to pay off one of our credit cards. We have been enjoying their company and playing games almost every night. I love having a full house… this explains why I want 5+ kids someday!

    Such cute dorm rooms! I don’t think I have any of my dorms. I definitely didn’t put a whole lot of thought into decorating them, and it was the dark ages before I had a digital camera so I took WAY less photos then.

    Also, I think we have the same comforter on our beds!

    I had some really funny dorm rooms too! I’ll have to see if I can dig up some of the photos. Sophomore year one of my suitemates had a sister that worked at Abercrombie and we had a HUGE poster in our living room. It was completely hilarious (but hot!)

    Interesting to see the changes in your decorating style over the years!
    Guess what?? I had jeans on my wall in my dorm room while at San Francisco State University! The reason? I thought it would remind me to stay on my diet, so I could fit into them again! LOL
    The wall in your bedroom would look great with assorted frames…maybe even with mirrors? It would make the room seem larger and bounce the natural light from the windows!

    Haha, I didn’t think of it that way. My friend who was skinny had old jeans she didn’t want anymore so I decided to hang them up and at one point I think we put pretty underwear inside. I don’t know what I was thinking!

    We actually do have a full length mirror that we bought from IKEA and it’s actually resting against the wall on the other wall near our door. My parents loved it too that they bought one for their bedroom too. I’ll have to take more pictures of our room when it’s done. -steph anne

    It’s so funny how our tastes change as we get older! I remember in HS my bedroom was practically wallpapered in magazine cutouts. Wow.

    Ohhh it’s great to see all your different bedrooms, and how they changed over time. I don’t think I ever really put that much effort into decorating especially knowing I’d never spend more than a year or two there. The next apartment I move into I do want to decorate nicely, though.
    I also love how even your cat matches the color scheme in the last one.

    I love the evolution of the rooms! The red dot one is great and I love the current one too! Um, jeans on the wall is new to me. But it does take up a lot of space.

    In my dorm rooms the bed and desk were nailed down so you couldn’t rearrange. Sadly ;(
