Desktop Background & Icons to Stay Organized!

Monday, February 28th, 2011

Over the past few days, I’ve been really reorganizing my files on my iMac. My iMac is slow so I knew I had to clean up my computer and remove unnecessary files & programs. Also I just signed up with Mozy where I can back up my data/files so if something happens to my iMac, I’ll have everything backed up on Mozy. Sweet, huh? There’s too much of my life on my iMac. We even have wedding photos from families that I haven’t gotten around to printing yet. Now I feel better knowing I have them backed up!

I gave my desktop a makeover with labels so I can organize/group my folders on my desktop. I also went to the extreme and even created icons for each folder. Now I feel encouraged to put files/photos in the right folders and not let my desktop get all cluttered up again.

Now doesn’t my iMac looks pretty!?

Where did January & February go?

I’m still alive! I’m still trying to figure out how to balance blogging, work, designing and my life at home. Work has me exhausted to the point where I don’t want to be on the computer after a long day at work. Plus my co-worker is on maternity leave now so this means more work for me! Yep, babies are everywhere now.

Some people think I’m crazy for spending so much time designing over at Yellow & Savvy Design. Honestly, I love designing and everything about my business & clients. The timing couldn’t be better since Tyler and I don’t have children or anything else in our way so this is our time to do what we want to do before we start a family and become old, haha. I know I don’t blog a lot about Yellow & Savvy Design but if you want updates… Facebook is the best place so head over there and like YSD!

Kitchen Mood Lighting

Tuesday, February 15th, 2011

I absolutely love white Christmas lights because they’re not so bright and it adds warmth to the rooms. We have 5 ceiling lights in the kitchen and it can be really bright when we’re not in the kitchen but yet want to leave some lights on. I have always wanted to add rope light on top of the cabinets in our kitchen but we never got around to it. All that changed the other day when I saw them on sale at WalMart for $14.

Luckily for us we had a gap in between the wall the cabinets in the corner of our kitchen so we could drop the plug down to plug it into the wall. Plus we have our bananas hanging in the corner so it’s another good cover up too!

See the white pages we’re using up there? Yup, good choice because we never use the white pages. Thanks to technology – we don’t need them!

Also it’s a good thing you can’t see the scorpion that Tyler killed and has proudly stored its body up there in the corner. Ugh. I guess it’s better than keeping it somewhere else that’s within my sight.

I love how it looks now! It’s great for when we’re just watching TV at night and don’t want to leave the kitchen lights on. I’m hoping later on we can add some light under the cabinets but that’s at the end of my list right now.

Have you done anything similar to this and added mood lighting in your house?
