A “Heavy” Secret…

Wednesday, March 30th, 2011

I had to keep a secret but now I don’t need to anymore.

I applied to be on the show, Heavy, on A&E last month. I didn’t think much into it and didn’t think it’d go anywhere. Well, a week later the casting director contacted me and told me they were interested and asked me to fill out a questionnaire. The typical questions were like,

  • What is your biggest regret that is a consequence of your weight?
  • How has your weight affected your health?
  • What are your three most important reasons for losing weight?

…and lots of describing myself and telling my story. I answered the questions and sent the questionnaire back to her. She asked me not to tell anyone of our conversation because you know they do that with all TV shows anyways. She even called Tyler to make sure we were aware of that. Meanwhile I asked my boss if it would be okay to take a month (or more) off if I got picked and she was totally supportive of it and said I’d still have my job.

A few days later, she emailed me back and told me I made it to the next round. They were interested in my story and now wanted me to do a videotape. They were asking for a lot….

  • Eating bad food
  • Cooking
  • Show the inside of my fridge
  • My closet and clothes
  • Old pictures of me
  • Things that are hard to do physically
  • Show my work place

I got overwhelmed by reading all the things they wanted me to do. I’ll be honest here…..I chickened out!! Actually…Tyler and I talked about it because we didn’t even discuss anything before I randomly applied because I seriously didn’t think they would contact me. After our discussion, we both agreed we didn’t feel financially comfortable with me leaving for a month. And honestly….I don’t think I could go for a month being isolated at a resort without my iPhone UNLESS I was on The Biggest Loser which is my favorite show! I even dreamed that I went through the last chance work out with Bob & Jillian. It felt so real and so I’d like to pretend I did.

Anyways….so yep, it sucks because now I’ll have to live with that regret of not knowing what would have happened if I sent in a videotape. But honestly… I’m not going to dwell on it because I am still working on myself by going to boot camp and doing a 5K run/walk next Saturday. At least I’m not giving up!

So that was my secret. Sorry you won’t see me on TV revealing my rolls of fat & how much I weigh.

You May Delay, But Time Will Not!

I miss college when my weekend typically would start on Thursday evenings. Three day weekend?! Oh please, I’d love to have that now again. Life is going way too fast!

Weekend recap: my new 50mm camera lens arrived in the mail just in time for the weekend! Tyler he needs to practice with the camera so I can at least be in some of the pictures some day instead of always being behind the camera.

I was supposed to take my sister’s senior pictures over the weekend but one of my dad’s best friends was in town so we postponed it to next weekend. I’m so excited that I practically told her what to wear and made her promise me she’d bring her sparkly gold dress to wear.

My sister repainted her bedroom to 2 shades of light pink. She’s so crazy obsessed with Victoria’s Secret so she wants to make it look like VS. I’ll be helping her save mom & dad money by doing some DIY projects to revamp up her room. I’m thinking of a clothing line with VS bags. I wish we took a before picture of her room but I think it’s good that we didn’t since it was sooo messy!

Now the “not so fun” part of the weekend was yard work. I absolutely hate it. Not even 30 minutes into doing yard work, Tyler pulled a muscle in his back. We were both laughing so hard because we’re obviously yard noobies if he already pulled a muscle in his back! We decided to get rid of some plants that were ugly. Tyler almost took everything out of the yard and I convinced him we didn’t need a bald yard with just rocks. I begged Tyler to let me take a picture of him holding the plant on his head. Doesn’t his new hair extensions look good? See his roots? That’s what my roots look like right now, no joke. I need to get my hair done soon!

Hopefully next month I’ll have a page up on my blog with a tour of our house. Our house is kind of messy now. We plan on doing another round of spring cleaning like we did last year. My in-laws are coming to stay for a few days in mid-April so it’ll be nice to have the house deep cleaned before then.

Here’s a weird conversation that took place at the grocery store tonight:

Me: What do you want to make for dinner tonight?
Tyler: You
Me: My parents already made me 26 years ago. You’re more than welcome to make a mini-me!

Hahaha! And no, we’re not trying to have kids now. :)

Small Things Here & There

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

We have been really abusing the walls in our house a lot lately. But at least it’s to make the walls prettier! I just about had it with the empty walls and leaving frames and art tucked away in the closet. It was time to get over it and put them up.

The new addition was the starfish stand that I found at Kohl’s for $10! Also we got new curtains from IKEA and added them to the other window that we have between the kitchen and family room. I’ll never get tired of our family plaque!

I still have this frame up that we originally received with the house. The realtor had left some accessories in the house when we moved in. The frame was brown and the art wasn’t pretty at all. So I painted it off-white and put in damask scrapbook paper. I can honestly stare at it all day long. I also bought theĀ LA LA LOVE YOU poster from Etsy a little over a year ago and I finally got around to hanging it up!! See… it was that bad that I didn’t hang anything up for so long!

Haha, I had to post this picture of my babe in it!

I recently started putting frames up on the wall in other wing of the house. I still want to add more frames to the wall when I can. I was inspired by some subway art that I saw on Etsy so I created my own with Photoshop. I love it!!

Besides putting nails in the walls, I just ordered new lens for my camera because I’ll be taking my sister’s senior pictures this weekend. I don’t consider myself a photographer but it’ll be fun to do it for my parents and to save money. I know it’ll be a challenge since my sister is really picky with which pictures she likes of herself. April is just around the corner… I can’t believe it!
