DIY Wall Art

August 16, 2012

Remember those fun frames I bought online months ago? I finally started making wall art and picking out which photos I wanted to frame with them.

Picking out a photo for our 16×20 frame was not easy because we don’t have that many great photos that are big enough for that size. So I had no choice but to pick a picture from our wedding or engagement shoot. I got a few printed and I’m not sure which one I want to use yet.

Next frame was 11×14 and I wanted to create a silhouette of our pup, Cheerio! I thought it would be a struggle to get a photo of Cheerio but to my surprise… it only took 3 attempts!

Ta-da! I then fiddled around with it in Photoshop with the Lasso tool and cut one of his leg out since it kind of looked like the other thing if you know what I’m talking about. I of course had to stripes & make it yellow!

I also had a bunch of other small frames to fill up too. I have an inspiration board in the office and have some favorite cards up that I’ve saved over the years from friends. I knew I had to use this cute card from a college friend so I grabbed a pink Sharpie and filled it in. It’s been a while since I did some coloring, wee!

I love it!

Printing was so easy. I had them printed at Costco and was really pleased with the results especially the fact that it only took 1 hour which is perfect because I’m impatient! I had 7 photos printed including 2 11×14’s and 2 16×20’s and only paid $20. Sweet!

Now the next thing is to get them up on the wall!

LOL funny, I want to do this with all our pets for our bedroom – but have been avoiding trying to force seven always-moving pets to just HOLDSTILL so I can nab their side portrait! :)
