Running at 2AM?

I promised you all an update on the drama of the apartment situation.
Last night my mom, an accountant for a law firm, told me that her friend at work wanted to come to the meeting with us and play our “attorney”. I was really excited at the idea except to find out he couldn’t come today since he’s busy moving to a new house. My mom was still dressed up enough to look like our attorney anyways.
We went to the office and met with our community manager and she looked a bit scared since none of us smiled or looked like we were enjoying the fact that we had to come to the office to deal with this. She started off by telling us that we received a 10 day notice which we were very aware of and warned her that we never received the first one so she said she was going to dismiss that one from our big fat folder.
She kept telling us that we were getting reported for running up and down the stairs at 2AM? It was so hard not to roll my eyes when she said that. Why would the heck we want to run up 3 floors? and run down 3 floors? And how do they have proof it’s us? It could be anyone! We both work and usually go to bed before 1AM.
My mom and I explained that we’re mentally and physically exhausted from all this and it’s taking a toll on our lives having to constantly be reminded that our neighbors could complain any second. We informed her that we would be more than happy to move out because we’re not happy here anymore. Of course it’s her job to keep us here and suggested that we could move to a different apartment if we wanted to. Our answer was No. She also slightly hinted that our neighbors downstairs are moving out soon anyways.
Conclusion of the meeting: We get to live our lives however we want to. I told her to quit the 10 day notice letters and to e-mail me if there’s another complaint. We made it clear to her that we don’t want to continue our lease if we get more complaints from now on.
We’re never living in an apartment again after our lease is up.
