Video Games to Hiking…New Addiction!

Monday, March 30th, 2009

Some of you may know that the hubby has an obesssion with playing WOW (World of Warcraft) and it drives me crazy to no end because I can’t get his immediate attention when I want to. I’d prefer him play “pause-able” (not a word, I know but why not make it up) games. Instead of hearing the typical, “Hold on… I can’t stop right this minute”. I admit sometimes I yell bloody murder so that’ll get his attention, muaha. At least it works…when I don’t overdo it!

A few days ago his computer broke… I don’t know why or what happened. He’s been using his old laptop and doesn’t have much patience with it.

Hubby: “I’m tired of playing WOW…and am actually thinking about cancelling my subscription”

Me: “OMG..I never thought you’d say that…ever!”

Hubby: “Don’t push it… I said I’d think about it”

Me: “I’m sooo excited. What are you going to do instead?”

Hubby: “I want to buy video games for my Xbox”

Just grrrrrreat! Later he admitted that he’d like to do more and discover a new hobby. Lately we’ve been exercising and hiking and discovered a new love for hiking now.

Sunday we decided to invite my parents to go hiking with us (saving that complicated & difficult mountain for another time). We all really had a wonderful time “getting away from life” and just hiking to the top. It’s a wonderful feeling of accomplishment at the top. I’m proud of myself for getting to the top AND bottom with a full bladder!!

I’ve pretty much decided that I’m going to run the P.F. Chang’s Rock ‘n’ Roll 1/2 marathon January 2010. It seems like the Hubby and Dad are interested in doing it with me. It feels wonderful to have a great support system and those who want to get involved with my journey. Right now I’m focusing on losing weight and will start training later in the Summer or Fall. Amy, the running machine, will be living with us this Summer so I’m looking forward to having a free “personal trainer”.

Before we know it… Summer will be here!

Look on the Bright Side, Dad’s Pregnant…

I love my new flats – you’ll most likely never catch me wearing heels since I already feel tall enough. I hate shopping for clothes now because I don’t like Spring or Fall clothes – only Winter or Summer! I’m better off saving money now anyways.

Just as we were leaving, I told Tyler how much I missed my sunglasses that I lost in the Summer. I’ve been blinding myself for that long! We saw this booth that had a sign that read “2 for $19.99″ so now I have 2 sunglasses.

We went to my parents’ house for dinner and had some yummy meatloaf with potatoes & salad. The boys needed their fix of pie for dessert… always do!

Half of the pie went to Dad and the other half went to Tyler. Dad said he can’t smile while pushing his stomach out to look pregnant. That pie was disgusting and good thing I didn’t have any because the boys ended up not liking it. Poor them – didn’t satifisy their pie-fix.

March’s going by real slow – is it just me that feels that way? I think I’m just too anxious for the Summer to roll in.

2009

I predict 2009 will be a good year especially with my resolutions.

  • Lose weight
  • Buy a house
  • Babies?
  • Save money!!

My dad came over after work to pick up my crockpot since my mom wants to borrow it.

Dad: Are you coming over on Thursday for the party?

Me: Maybe, and I have a secret.

Dad: You’re pregnant?!?! *excited look*

Me: Nooo!!  My secret is that I hid some Christmas cookies and I forgot to bring them home.

Dad: Where are they?

Me: Not telling you, you’ll eat them all!

Dad said he’d tell mom when he got home that I have a BIG secret to reveal on Thursday and she’s probably going to have a heart attack. He thinks this is all too funny, and mom apparently doesn’t! She told Tyler she’d buy him condoms if she had to.

I’m excited because I was browsing online at houses for sale in Phoenix and found a lot within our price range. We’re starting to talk about buying a house and we really want to this summer since I start making more money Jan 1st. We’re looking at houses with 3-4 bedrooms so we can have our in-laws and guests stay with us… and of course for our future children!

This is our dream and we’re going to make it happen!
