My Doll

Sunday, July 11th, 2010

My sister texted me the other day asking to hang out. I thought this day would never come because apparently she told me before I was too old to hang out with. I have not been feeling great lately the past few days but I didn’t want to give up this opportunity to hang out with her. We made plans and dad dropped her off at my house on Saturday afternoon. Tyler was at work so it was perfect timing to have some girl time together.

We went & had lunch then came back to the house. We ended up doing her hair & make up. This was not something I did often when she was a little girl. She hated people brushing her hair so it was impossible to play with her hair and have her be my doll… and now I had a chance to do this!

Shampooed her hair in the kitchen sink….and I don’t think I’ve ever seen her allow a picture be taken when she does not have make up on!

Blow-dried her hair then teased her hair on top.

Then it was time to give her the beach curly look that she wanted.  We had a few close calls with burning each other!

Ta-da!!

I helped her do her make up then we also did our nails and I swear I only had 1 Diet Pepsi that day.
Got to love $2 nail polish from ULTA!

As soon as Tyler and I dropped her off at home… it was time to go back being 25 years old.
Not sure if I know how 25 year olds are supposed to act anyways.

The rest of the weekend was spent sleeping, coughing,
being nursed by my darling husband, doing laundry & watching movies.

I hope you all had a lovely weekend.

Grandma Riding a Motorcycle & My Mini-Life Crisis!

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

My 86 year old grandma who is smoking hot went to a garage sale with my aunt the other day. While browsing around at the garage sale, she noticed the owner’s motorcycle (it wasn’t for sale). She’s known to be the one that always strike up a conversation with everyone she sees and everyone just loves talking to her.

She told the owner that he had a really nice bike and she proceeded to tell him that she has always wanted to ride one before. He insisted on taking her out for a ride. She hesitated only because she was not sure if she trusted him or not… it wasn’t because she was afraid. The owner and his wife told her that they would be home the next day if she changed her mind.

After a night of thinking about it…she was determined to go for a ride so the next day my aunt & grandma went back. The owner’s wife had a leather jacket and helmet for her to wear.

According to Grandma’s email…she said, “The helmet smashed my hair down but I fixed it after. I enjoyed  the ride so much. He was so nice, we talked all the way! We drove all over Edmonds, went up Sunset Ave to see the water then down my street and he showed me the church they go to. Half hour later it was all over. I thanked him and hugged him goodbye

I’m so proud of her for doing something fun and wild for herself!

This has been kind of a wake up call for me. The other day Tyler jokingly asked me how old I was… probably because I was being silly at the moment. I told him I was 24. He looked at me like I lost my mind. I almost had a heart attack because seriously I forgot that I’m 25…. and it doesn’t help at all that I’m losing my mind too. Even worse I’m going to be 26. Don’t get me wrong… there is nothing wrong with being older. It’s just the fact that I’m getting older and I feel like I haven’t accomplished enough thus far to cross off a lot of things on my bucket list.

I need to stop being too comfortable and step out of my comfort zone sometimes. Like the quote says,

“Life begins at the end of your comfort zone,” by Neale Donald Walsch

Really… I need to get over myself and my mini-life crisis and start living every day to the fullest. I can thank my Grandma for inspiring me to be like her when I’m 86 years old. I need great stories to tell my grandchildren some day and feed them old cookies!

Introducing…My Aunt & Uncle’s Crib!

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

I’m in love with everything that my aunt, Lee, does with decorating and pretty much everything else! We stayed with them when we went to Seattle and it was the first time we got to see their new house. They live on a private road with some other nice houses too. Just enough privacy with a huge front and back yard.

We got the grand tour upon our arrival. I’m a sucker for houses with a lot of natural sun light and this is the perfect house! We went outside to the little shed. It’s a party shed! They have a bar and everything you need to throw an awesome party. They’ve always been good at parties!

We’re so much alike with what we like when it comes to decorating our houses.

Let me introduce you to my lovely aunt & uncle….

The living room with a red, gray and black theme going on.

The dining room. I think I have fallen in love with the color, green, now because of this!

AND my favorite room….the guest room where Tyler and I slept in.
I love polka dots and the room was just PERFECT….even much better than a 4 star hotel room!
My aunt even wrapped up towels for us.
On the wall there were pictures of me and Tyler plus our parents.
That was a really nice touch she added to the room just for us…definitely creative too!

When we were getting ready to go to bed I told Tyler that I didn’t want to sleep in it
because it was just too beautiful that I couldn’t mess up the sheets!

I have been inspired to be like my aunt & uncle with how they decorate for their guests and with the house. Hopefully this Fall we’ll tackle some more house projects. We have some things we need to get financially in order first before we can do anything with the house.

Oh and I’m sure everyone on the block thinks we have a good looking landscaping guy because my awesome Dad pruned and made our yard look pretty while we were on vacation. Just perfect in time for Father’s day for us to spoil him now!
