Life & My Pretty Reindeer!

Tuesday, November 22nd, 2011

Okay, so obviously this month has been the busiest month for me. My good friend who I grew up with came down to visit for a few days. We hung out, went shopping and got together with friends at an outdoor bar that had live music and it was really fun! We had a little reunion with some sorority sisters. It’s always fun getting together with the sisters that you know you share an unique bond with.

So yesterday was Missa Lee‘s last day at work as a single woman. She’s getting married this Saturday! I designed a wallpaper to put on her computer and another friend at work and I took her out to lunch at Sauce. She and her man will be going to Bora Bora for their honeymoon and can you tell I’m jealous? I’ve been dreaming of going there for years!

On a holiday note, I have been wanting to get reindeer antlers and a bright red nose for my car for years but they always sold out quickly that I could never get my hands on it. So can you imagine how friggin’ excited I was to find that Walgreens had “a lot” of them!? I was too excited that I put them on last night. So now pretty Carmella is a reindeer. She’s anxiously waiting for her other reindeer buddies to join her in the parking lot at work!

On a Different Life Path…

Sometimes it sucks having friends from all over the country.

I grew up in Seattle so I have friends & family there. Then I went to Rochester Institute of Technology in New York because of the deaf school they had there. It was a great experience meeting so many new deaf friends & being in a sorority. I’m a Sigma Sigma Sigma sister if you were wondering. I have no regrets of living in New York but 5 years for college was enough.

After graduation Tyler and I settled in Arizona and within the year we got married and bought a house. Not a lot of our friends are even married or own a house. This is where the differences come in.

A lot of our friends have been making plans to visit each other. I don’t mind that at all. I just wish that I could cough up extra money and go visit my friends but they all come from different states. I clearly can’t afford all of those trips.

It doesn’t help when I’m reminded that it is “my turn to visit”. I’m tired of having to explain many times why I can’t.

We have different kind of responsibilities: credit card payments, student loan payments, car payment and a mortgage to pay. I’m sorry if I’d rather save money to go on our honeymoon which we still haven’t gone on. Also it’s important that we have money in case something happens. Right now we don’t even have enough money saved to pay our bills if one of us lose our jobs.

Also there is just so much going on with my brother-in-law who has brain cancer and my grandma who has lung cancer. We need to make sure we’re able to go up to Washington when we need to.

Don’t get me wrong, I adore my friends and I don’t want to lose my friends at all. I would go visit them all in a heartbeat if I could. Everyone has different goals in life and how they want to spend their money.

I hope they can understand and wish I didn’t have to explain myself at all.

Crazy Weekend with Kinect!

Sunday, February 13th, 2011

Tyler and I did a quick run to WalMart the other night to grab some things we needed. As always…we ended up in the electronics department. We were there for a good 15 minutes discussing if we should buy Kinect or not. Tyler finally convinced me and said it could be an early Valentine’s Day gift to ourselves.

Best Buy had a good deal where you could get 2 Kinect video games for $70 while they are priced at $49.95 so we bought Kinect Sports & a boxing video game that Tyler wanted. Dance Central and some other games are next on my list.

My family came over on Friday night to try it and everyone had a great time. My sister who thinks I’m too old for her to hang out with texted me asking if she and her boyfriend could come over. I knew it was because of Kinect but I told them of course they could come over.

We all got a kick out of watching the videos of ourselves at the end of each game! On Saturday, Tyler wasn’t feeling too well so we stayed in then a friend came over late around 11:00PM and our roommate came home from work too so we all got in a drinking mood and played some games.

Tyler has been drinking more beer lately. He still needs to get his taste buds used to Corona. Thanks to the boys and my dad! Remember when Tyler claims he didn’t have any facial hair because he didn’t drink beer? Well, Tyler’s happy to report that he has more facial hair now!

We played games with Kinect and a really long card game of Oh Hell and didn’t end the night until 4:30AM. Let’s just say that my favorite moment of the night was when I told the boys I’d flash them and I wanted to tease them since I had a tank top on underneath. So at the same time I was pulling my shirt down…I saw Tyler in slow motion sign, “Noooooo” and his face was priceless! He said he knew I wouldn’t do that but wasn’t sure if I was really that drunk.

Anyways, it was a great weekend and I’m looking forward to many more fun times with Kinect.

Have you tried Kinect? If so, what’s your favorite game? If you haven’t tried it yet, come on over! :)
