My Pretty Hair Bow….at Home Only!

Tuesday, August 30th, 2011

Yesterday during lunch at work, Missa Lee and I were talking about hair tutorials and actually watched some YouTube videos. We learned how to make a hair bow that reminds me of Minnie Mouse! We quickly tried doing it ourselves and it was pretty easy! It’s better if you have long hair though.

Last night I did it again and thought it was cute. But when I answered the door last night, my friend instantly recognized my bow and wasn’t sure what to think. See…this is why I can’t do things like this out in public because I’m not that confident with myself when it comes to hair stuff and this is not me at all. I always have my hair down sporting a Lauren Conrad braid or with just my bangs to the side. Sometimes I’ll curl my hair when I have time but that hasn’t happened lately. In the evening when my bangs are annoyingly in my way I just put it up in a messy bun.

I love playing with hair and will often beg my sister to do her hair. By the way, my apologies for never getting around to doing a curling tutorial. I’ll have to beg my sister to come over and let me do her hair again.

I have a confession to make though. I don’t use a straightening iron at all. I refuse to own one and use it. I don’t need to add more time to my morning routine and I’m happy with how my hair is after I blow dry it. Hairspray is all I need afterwards!

My Doll

Sunday, July 11th, 2010

My sister texted me the other day asking to hang out. I thought this day would never come because apparently she told me before I was too old to hang out with. I have not been feeling great lately the past few days but I didn’t want to give up this opportunity to hang out with her. We made plans and dad dropped her off at my house on Saturday afternoon. Tyler was at work so it was perfect timing to have some girl time together.

We went & had lunch then came back to the house. We ended up doing her hair & make up. This was not something I did often when she was a little girl. She hated people brushing her hair so it was impossible to play with her hair and have her be my doll… and now I had a chance to do this!

Shampooed her hair in the kitchen sink….and I don’t think I’ve ever seen her allow a picture be taken when she does not have make up on!

Blow-dried her hair then teased her hair on top.

Then it was time to give her the beach curly look that she wanted.  We had a few close calls with burning each other!

Ta-da!!

I helped her do her make up then we also did our nails and I swear I only had 1 Diet Pepsi that day.
Got to love $2 nail polish from ULTA!

As soon as Tyler and I dropped her off at home… it was time to go back being 25 years old.
Not sure if I know how 25 year olds are supposed to act anyways.

The rest of the weekend was spent sleeping, coughing,
being nursed by my darling husband, doing laundry & watching movies.

I hope you all had a lovely weekend.

Hair Disasters

sav

I’ve had many hair disasters that I lost count. One time I dyed my hair 4-5 times in one night because I messed up and refused to stop until it was right. I’m grateful that my hair didn’t fall out. Those times were horrible… I even had to put ketchup in my hair one time!

I told myself I wouldn’t dye my hair again unless I got it professionally done. It’s been more than a year since then.

I got my hair done on Saturday but I didn’t think it was dark enough and my hair looked like salt & pepper to me. So I dyed my hair again the other night. It was just the beginning of another hair disaster.

My hair turned out red!

After doing what I’m so good at…googling what went wrong and what to do. It turns out I wasn’t supposed to use “warm” colors so I went back to the store and got a “cool” brown color.

I’m now happy with the color but when I go for my next haircut in a few months I want to lighten it up.

Have you ever had a hair disaster before?  . . . or maybe it’s just me.
