Where I’ve Lived

I saw Megan & Doniree do this and so I thought I’d do the same thing.

Sammamish, WA. I was born in Bellevue at the same hospital where my mom was born and by the same doctor. This was the perfect neighborhood to live in when it came to Halloween & Christmas time. All the neighbors were fully into the holidays. This house was best for sliding down the long hallway in socks and going up the homemade attic in the garage which was my little getaway with my girlfriends.  Disclaimer: the yard did not look this horrible when we lived there.

Anthem, AZ. We moved when I was 16. I was not happy that we had to move away from all my other family relatives, Tyler and my friends. The whole time I was just itching to get out and go to college and be with Tyler. Most of my time was spent online, at the gym and swimming at the country club pool.

Rochester, NY. The day came when Tyler and I both moved to New York to go to RIT. We spent 5 school years in New York living in different places: the dorm, on-campus apartment, and off-campus apartment. Living in New York really made me realize how much I really missed living in Arizona.

Anthem, AZ. After graduation, we moved back to Arizona after Tyler decided to move with me. We lived in the casita that’s attached to my parents’ house. I really wish we lived with my parents a little bit longer to save money but we didn’t. We only lived there for 2 months until we both found full-time jobs.

Paradise Valley, AZ. Instead we moved into our own apartment in the valley closer to work. It was indeed paradise at first until we ran into problems with our annoying neighbors downstairs who really enjoyed reporting every small thing on us. We were more than ready to move out again and not re-new our lease.

Anthem, AZ. We started looking for a house to purchase and ended up finding our dream home 3 miles away from my parents’ house. The location is perfect! We made the move back to Anthem and started a new chapter of our lives with 30 years of payments to make.

Finally Home Projects!

We moved! We didn’t even really start packing until the night before the big move. I tried staying organized so it would be easier to unpack but then when it came to the littlest things.. I gave up!

While going down and up to the 3rd floor, I dropped the coffee table on my foot. I was wearing flipflops….brilliant idea, I know. I expected to get an injury anyways since I always get hurt somehow whenever moving. Finally 4-5 hours later, I decided to take the cats with me and go ahead to the house. Both cats were meowing like crazy and Cozy would not calm down unless he was sitting on my lap. I got caught up in traffic so I texted Amy to let her know. They all went a different way and arrived before I did. Here’s a quick video of their arrival.

I have been recently overwhelmed with all these home projects. I should probably type up a list of things we want to do and do it one at a time. I love living 5 miles away from my parents. They have been giving us all the stuff they don’t want anymore. One of the things they gave us was their old outdoor table & chairs. Tyler scrubbed them clean & spray-painted them black.

This is the view we get from our backyard. There are little things I have noticed since living in our new house. My hair’s softer and I think it has to do with the water filter we have installed…even the cats are softer!! The time goes slow and I actually like that because I feel like I have more time at home after work. Last night a nice family down the street drove by in their golf cart and all of them waved at us. Tyler and I are in shock of how nice neighbors can be…because unfortunately we didn’t have nice neighbors at the apartment. We learned from our neighbors that our house has been vacant for 2 years & some college kids bought the house and only lived there for a few months…which explains why it’s still in good condition.

I promise I will get back to regular blogging next week.

The Perfect Monsoon Summer

It dropped 20 degrees the other night after a storm swept in and poured in the valley. It was a big deal!

Amy asked me to wake her up from her nap when it started to rain. I kept going outside every 5 minutes to take pictures and people outside were looking at me like I was taking pictures of them. The camera was aimed up…. not down at them!

I wish I could say we have been busy packing. Instead I’ve been changing our address & creating our moving announcements so I can mail them out soon to family & friends.

It took us TWO hours to sign all the papers at our realtor’s office on Sunday. We found out that our mortgage payments will be $200 less than we were originally told we would be paying. Let’s just say it’s pretty much the same amount we’re paying now for our apartment. We were prepared to pay our closing costs but our realtor made some calls to the bank and saved us $2,000!

We get the keys on Friday! Exactly the same day we leave for Las Vegas. The excitement can wait until we return on Sunday. Too bad we can’t just magically make everything appear at the new house without having to pack, load, unload, and unpack!

Me: What are you most excited about moving into the house?

Tyler: The fridge ice & water dispenser!
