Not a Beautiful Ticket

pissed steph

Mom lied. It’s not a beautiful photo radar ticket! I look pissed in the photo… of course, I always get pissed when I see a van hiding and scaring the crap out of cars when they drive by slamming on their brakes to slow down. There’s another photo on my ticket from the back of my car to capture my license plate number. Too bad I didn’t go a little bit faster since I was almost “out of the picture frame”. I’ve been doing research and asking friends what to do and some say to pay for it and others say don’t pay for it since I wasn’t legally served with the ticket. I do know if they find a way to make me pay for it then I’ll have to pay extra for service fees.

Now I have to choose if I’m going to fork over $200 or hide for 120 days.

Beautiful Photo Radar Ticket

Today has been a definitely weird/off-ish day. At work KK and I were losing our minds! Things were not coming out of my mouth correctly… and we laughed it off.

I came home from work and got ready to defend myself at the office about the 10 day notice letter we received. My mom stopped by on her way home to be there for us. She walked out of her car wearing a suit jacket with a pencil skirt and her purse. She definitely looked like our lawyer!

We spoke with one of the leasing consultants and she grabbed our file. Apparently there was a “10 day notice” letter last Monday for us but we never received it. Go figure since they leave it on your door for anyone to see. So technically the letter we received last night was our 2nd letter.

I tried keeping my cool when talking to her. While she was busy talking directly to me and my mom… Tyler managed to read off some papers that were in our file on the desk. It’s definitely people below us reporting us since the compliant said “Neighbors upstairs…”

Unfortunately the community manager had just left for the day so we had to make an appointment to meet with her hopefully tomorrow or Monday.

After my mom arrived home, she paged me…

Mom: “You got busted by photo radar. A ticket came in the mail.”

Me: “Ugh, I knew it. What does it say?”

Mom: “I have to send it in saying it wasn’t me then they’ll send you the ticket. I think it’s $181 bucks”

Me: “Ouch… you’re accusing me!”

Mom: “Sweetie, but it’s the most beautiful picture of you!”

Just wonderful!! Definitely not my day.

Hiding from the Law?

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

First of all, I’m not naked in the picture… i have a tank top on! thank you very much :)

This morning I was driving to work and I saw this speed enforcement police van flash at me and behind me when I passed it. Right there I knew I was getting a ticket for speeding. I read online that a lot of people are not paying for their tickets because they only received it in the mail not properly served in person. If they come to the house and you get served then you have to pay, but if not and you hide for 160 days then you’ll be waived. I told mom I’m going to hide…haha! Really…I don’t know what I’m going to do but I’m just hoping mom doesn’t page me telling me I got a ticket in the mail. I went slow like an old woman on the way home and the van wasn’t in the same place but moved up the street and hid in the bushes. Not cool!

Tomorrow….we get our paychecks! I can’t wait! Last week – my mom, Tyler and I discussed our finances and kind of came up with a budget plan to try that will save us hundreds of money. Thank god mom’s an accountant because I hate math!
