California, Here We Come!

Monday, August 15th, 2011

Tyler’s brother, Brent, who has brain cancer has just completed his last radiation treatment!

He’s on vacation for 2 weeks before he starts his next round of intense chemotherapy treatment in Seattle for the next 8 months. This means he was accepted into the clinical trial so the treatment will be covered!

The family is taking advantage of this vacation time to drive down to California and have some fun since Brent deserves it. We have some family in California and will be staying with them in San Diego.

Tyler and I leave very early Wednesday morning to meet his family there. Our time will be spent together as a family and go to the Zoo and maybe Sea World too. It actually depends on how Brent’s feeling and if he’s up for it. It’ll be fun being with the family anyways!

I’m excited to put my iPad to a good use on the road trip with movies & magazines downloaded, haha.

Recap: Las Vegas…Especially Aria!

Sunday, April 24th, 2011

Our stay at Aria in Las Vegas was awesome! We arrived early Sunday afternoon and checked in. We were hoping to upgrade to perhaps a corner suite but that didn’t work. We were still lucky enough to get free breakfast & 2 free cocktail drinks anyways!

The coolest thing about staying in this room was we could control all the lights, temperature and open the curtains from our TV. We even had different options for our wake up call: open the curtains, turn the TV on, turn the lights on or play music. We made a stupid mistake of having the curtains open. Waaaay too bright!

Tyler’s parents & Amma! Ampa was back at their hotel sleeping. We had so much fun with them. My mother-in-law had so much good luck with gambling because she kept winning money. Tyler and I had to follow every move she made and played the same game she played (1 cent slot machines) and we still didn’t win any money.

This is when I became addicted to playing Roulette. Tyler and I would play together on a machine then sometimes play by ourselves. I think it was more fun playing together but there were so many “OMG” moments like we thought about putting money on a number but didn’t then it ended up the winning number, etc. It drove us nuts! We kept winning and losing so we didn’t really win any money in the end.

Me and Tyler in front of Aria!

Tyler and I walked around on the strip after his family went back to their hotel for the night. You know where we went? The Coca-Cola store! Yes, of course we had to take a picture of the Diet Coke section.

We also saw the largest chocolate fountain at the Belliago!

…and this for Easter (at the Belliago too). I really love the balloons. I wish my backyard was this colorful!

Our vacation in Vegas and with the in-laws wasn’t long enough! But we did have a lot of fun and it reminded us why we need to take go on vacation more often when we can. Anyways, I hope you all had an awesome Easter weekend!

Mini-Getaway with the In-Laws

Friday, April 15th, 2011

(I’ve been trying to get Tyler to use the new camera more so I can be in more pictures!)

I’m so ready for a vacation! And I’m excited to say we’re going to Las Vegas on Sunday for 2 days. I’m not that excited about Las Vegas itself but I am excited because we’ll be meeting Tyler’s parents, Amma and Ampa there.

We haven’t seen them since our trip to Seattle last July. It’s been that long! So we’re anxious to see them again and to get away for a while. Originally two of Tyler’s brothers were supposed to come but they both got new jobs and didn’t want to request time off already.

The other day the new resort, Aria, was on my mind. So I decided to check out their website and see how much it was and I saw a special for a deluxe city view upgrade and free breakfast! Sure!!! I was totally for it!

I texted Tyler saying we HAD to stay at the Aria. I was expecting him to say it was ridiculous to spend that much money. But I was wrong….he was up for it surprisingly!

Sweet, I have a husband who agrees with me that we should splurge on a place to stay in Las Vegas. We both deserve to splurge on a mini-getaway because lately I have been so stressed out with work and doing websites for Yellow & Savvy Design.

I feel like I have no time for myself.

I want to read & relax but I have no time.

I want to come home from work and be able to do whatever I want…not go on the computer and work.

I am grateful for all the compliments I get on my work….I really am! I also am grateful that I receive requests all the time but I have no extra time to do websites “less than a month”. I’m completely booked until June/July. I think I need to make the decision to cut back on the number of projects that I normally take upon but only after completing the projects I currently have on schedule.

So yep, we’re staying at Aria and hopefully we’ll come home with some winnings to make up for our stay. I probably jinxed myself anyways.

After Las Vegas, Tyler’s family will be headed down to Phoenix to stay with us for a few days. I’ll be back on Thursday! Until then….you can find me on Facebook & Twitter.

Have a fabulous weekend!
