Mini-Vacations But No Honeymoon Yet

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

My in-laws are in town! This probably explains the lack of tweeting, blogging, and commenting lately. The in-laws drove here from Vancouver, Washington which is 2 hours south of Seattle. I suppose they brought the weather with them since it’s gloomy here today.

We’re going up to Sedona tomorrow. The last time I was up there was on the day of my bachelorette party where we went on the Pink Jeep Tour.  I’m looking forward to it because it has been a while since we went out of town!

Next Thursday will be 9 years since Tyler and I got together. Can you imagine out of the 9 years we have been together for, we have never actually gone on vacation by ourselves?! That has to change soon!

So lately I have been thinking about our honeymoon because Tyler and I still haven’t gone on our honeymoon YET. With a November wedding it just didn’t seem to work in our schedule to go after we got married. I’m seriously going to need to talk to Tyler and tell him I want to go at the end of this year or beginning of next year. Right now I’m dreaming about going to St. Lucia’s…. if money wasn’t an issue, I’d definitely go to Bora Bora!

Any other warm/tropical places I should consider? I’m definitely looking into Sandals for St. Lucia’s.

Okay, time to stop drooling over the pictures and get back to reality!

Mini Vacation – Las Vegas

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

Within a few hours of leaving for Las Vegas, I received an e-mail saying we’re now homeowners and that we could pick up the keys. We stopped by the house on the way and met my parents there. I left the keys with my parents on purpose and jokingly told them, “just in case you want to get us something and surprise us!”

We arrived Las Vegas after midnight. The humidity there was horrible. This definitely makes me appreciative of the dry heat in Phoenix. I literally shed off 5 pounds from all that sweat!

When Meg checked in at the Luxor she told them we were deaf and they provided us with a TTY and alarm clock. None of us have seen and used a TTY in years!

Things can make you do crazy things in Las Vegas… such as a fake proposal. We were curious of the reactions we would get but not a lot of people were paying attention around us anyways. We saw one 40 year old woman laughing and crying so hard that she peed herself in the middle of the sidewalk.

We can kind of say we’ve been to Paris now. Looks like a huge Paris hat we’re wearing.

Gambling! I loved the Pleasure Pit wheel! Unfortunately Tyler and I didn’t win!
I hung out with the boys while the girls paid $110 to take a nap at a cirque du soleil show (O at the Bellagio)

Me and my girls! It sucks we live all over the place: Ohio, Boston, Texas & Arizona.
Hopefully we’ll have yearly reunions!

This recent weekend we went to Flagstaff (2 hours north of Phoenix) with Jason & Kim. It was nice to get out of Phoenix for a while. I sure forgot what it feels like to be in the freezing cold weather. I do NOT miss Rochester, NY but this was a nice getaway knowing I can always just drive 2 hours south and be in warm Phoenix again.

When we arrived, we had to clear the driveway and it was not easy. It was exhausting and we did enough for just the car to get through and out. Saturday morning we hit the slopes and I read in the lodge while Tyler, Jason & Kim went up. Only we didn’t know we’d be stuck in the traffic for 4 hours to get down to the bottom of the mountain.

We went to a Thai restaurant then played The Mexican Train Game. We’re now back in Phoenix and Tyler’s sick and has been sleeping since before I got home from work.

I’ve become a bookworm lately with the series of Twilight and now Amy keeps getting me hooked to other books now that I actually need to make a “list”.
